About Mary
-Mary has Spinal Mucular Atrophy (SMA), a neuromuscular disease that not only weakens the muscles that help her move, but those needed for breathing, swallowing and clearing her airway.
-Mary was diagnosed with SMA Type 1 at the age of 6 months through genetic testing, however we suspected there was something wrong when she was much younger, because she wasn't moving like other babies her age.
-Mary is a very bright and happy baby. She loves to play with her dogs and loves to read stories and go swimming.
